Exterior Painting Weather Checklist: Humidity, Dew Point, and Wind Limits
The ideal weather for exterior house painting is an ambient temperature between 50°F and 85°F (10°C–29°C), relative humidity between 40% and 70%, and wind speeds under 10 mph. Never paint if rain is forecast within 24 hours, if the surface is in direct blazing sun above 90°F, or if nighttime temperatures will drop within 5°F of the dew point before the paint film cures.

Temperature Parameters by Paint Chemistry
Modern 100% acrylic exterior paints are formulated with low-temperature coalescents capable of drying in temperatures as low as 35°F (1.7°C). However, standard oil-based alkyd paints require a strict 50°F (10°C) minimum for at least 48 continuous hours.
