Calculates galvanized or black vinyl-coated chain link fencing components including 50-ft woven fabric rolls, 1-3/8" top rails, 1-5/8" intermediate line posts (10-ft spacing), 2-3/8" terminal/corner posts, and hardware ties.

Rolls = Ceil(Linear Ft ÷ 50); Line Posts = Ceil((Linear Ft - (Corners × 10)) ÷ 10); Top Rails = Ceil(Linear Ft ÷ 21)

Worked example

Installing 200 ft of 4-ft chain link fencing with 4 corner/end posts.

Outcome: Fabric: 200 ÷ 50 = 4 rolls (50-ft each). Terminal posts: 4 heavy 2-3/8" posts. Line posts: 200 ÷ 10 - 4 = 16 line posts (1-5/8"). Top rails: 10 swaged 21-ft pipes. Concrete: 24 bags (50 lb).

What gauge chain link wire should I choose?

For standard residential yards, 11.5-gauge or 11-gauge galvanized wire is typical. For large dogs, commercial properties, or maximum durability, 9-gauge heavy commercial wire is recommended.
