Formula
Panels = Ceil(Linear Ft ÷ Panel Width); Posts = Panels + 1 + Gates; Concrete = Posts × 2 bags
1. Panel Count = Ceil(Linear Ft ÷ Panel Width (6 ft or 8 ft)) 2. Post Count (5"×5" Routed Vinyl) = Panel Count + 1 + Gate Count 3. Post Caps = Post Count 4. Fast-Setting Concrete Bags (50 lb) = Post Count × 2 bags

Worked example
Installing 160 ft of vinyl privacy fencing with 8-ft pre-assembled panels and 1 walk gate.
Outcome: Panels: 160 ÷ 8 = 20 panels (6 ft high × 8 ft wide). Posts: 20 + 1 + 1 gate = 22 vinyl posts (5"×5" × 9-ft). Post caps: 22 pyramid caps. Concrete: 44 bags of 50 lb fast-setting mix.
Do vinyl fence posts need wood 4x4 inserts inside them?
Standard line posts do not require wood inserts when set in 30" deep concrete. However, gate hinge posts and latch posts must have aluminum stiffener channels or treated 4x4 wood inserts to support the swinging gate weight without sagging.
